Camping with an Inflatable Canoe

They are Hassle Free and Easy to Pack

Camping can be a great family adventure as you enjoy the great outdoors and spend some quality time away from everything. This kind of excursion can give you a well-deserved break from work and be a chance for you to get in touch with Mother Nature. In order to enjoy your trip to the fullest, you may want to think about bringing an inflatable canoe along for the ride.

Inflatable canoes are easy to pack and transport and are hassle-free compared to their aluminum counterparts. Most of these craft come with a nylon bag for easy storage, and the air pumps are compact also. So you can just throw it into the trunk of your car and you are on your way. If you are camping with a larger group, there will be plenty of room to pack several of these canoes if you need to.

There are several different types of inflatable canoes that vary in the number of passengers they can carry. Some models are one-person canoes while others can seat up to four. No matter how many passengers a canoe can seat, these craft are so light-weight that one person can carry these canoes to the water’s edge easily using the built-in carry handles.

Inflatable canoes are also capable of carrying quite a bit of gear. Some models can hold up to 500 lbs. So you have plenty of room to carry enough supplies for a longer trek downriver. Most are equipped with a waterproof storage area so that you can keep your valuables dry even in the roughest white water. Many of these models also have multiple D-rings along the top of the canoe that you may use to strap gear into the boat.

Most models of inflatable canoe come equipped with tracking fins to enable these canoes to have easier maneuverability. They also have abrasion rails as extra protection from rocks and unseen obstructions. These canoes are great for shooting the rapids because most models are made of heavy-duty tarpaulin; these craft are almost as sturdy and durable as the aluminum models. There are also certain brands of inflatable canoes that are ideal for fishing and some even have the capacity to mount a motor on to the back.

Once you have purchased your inflatable canoe, you are ready to make the trek into the great outdoors. For a longer canoe ride, you can just pack a tent and take it with you as you head downstream. For a leisurely day on the river, you can just row at your own pace, stopping off on shore whenever you notice something that catches your eye. Since many areas along the riverside are far removed from the road, you may be able to observe wildlife that you would not normally see. You may notice eagles soaring overhead, or a mother raccoon clawing at a small fish to feed her young. You may even end up fishing without fishing poles as it is not uncommon for fish to flop right in the boat when you are just drifting along. If nothing else, the scare that it gives everyone is worth a laugh or two.

For the more adventurous souls, canoeing through white water rapids can be a thrill. Coordinating your rowing as you shoot through these rapids can be a task in itself. If you negotiate this white water successfully, you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done. If you end up capsizing, a little water never hurt anyone.

Canoeing is one of the most interesting ways to enjoy your camping trip and get a little exercise to boot. It is an experience that should not be missed.
