Inflatable White Water Rated Fishing Rafts
Not all White Water Rafts are Created Equal
Not all white water rafts are created equal. Some rafts may be excellent for just shooting
the rapids but do not do so well when you try to fish from them. Most manufacturers do have different models of rafts for various activities.
White water fishing rafts are compact and easy to store. Transporting them is a breeze as they can fit into the trunk of a car. As they only
weigh about 40 lbs. when packed up, you can easily transport them to areas far removed from the road.
White water rafts that are excellent for fishing usually have a different floor than regular white water
rafts. The flooring is usually harder to enable easy standing while casting off. Some of these models enable you to add a standing bar that gives
you extra support and balance while you are fishing.
There are also models available that have holes in the floor. With the use of swim fins, you can dangle your feet in the water while leaving
your hands free to cast out and reel in. You can maneuver your boat by paddling your feet in the desired direction. In shallow water, you can
just pick the boat up and turn the way you want to go. One advantage of this flooring system is your ability to travel upstream. You just walk
against the current and set down wherever you want to.
If you plan to use your white water raft for fishing, many models come with a motor mount included. If not, there are motor mount kits
available. An electric troller motor may be the best type to use on this type of craft since it can easily be pulled up and stored when you run
into rapids. This type of motor usually requires a 12 volt battery to power it, which can also be easily covered and stored in rough water.
You may also want to add a lightweight fluke anchor system. This accessory will enable you to anchor anywhere the fishing is good, even in
rapidly moving water. Some models also include built-in rod holders so that you can relax until you get that first bite.
Most models of these inflatable fishing boats come with quite a bit storage space. You may still
wish to purchase extra storage for your live bait and the day’s catch. Many have a grab line all the way around the boat that enables you to pull
your boat through shallow water or into isolated fishing areas along the river.
When fishing or boating in white water, you should always wear a high-quality life vest. The best and most durable vests are labeled as U. S.
Coast guard approved. You can find these at most boating retail shops.
It is also a good idea to carry a patch kit on your journey. Unlike when you are on calm water, white water can wreak havoc on an inflatable
raft. You want to be sure that if you do develop a leak or tear that you can readily repair it instead of being stuck in the middle of
nowhere.
Inflatable white water fishing rafts come in various styles and can have every accessory imaginable. Do your research to ensure that you
choose the best raft possible to fit your needs.
