Benefits of Fly Fishing When You're Getting on in Years
You're Never Too Old to Enjoy Life
Many baby boomers are asking themselves “why do I have to give up all the things that I
enjoy in life, just because I'm older”. This is a question that has been asked through the ages.
A typical question might be "Why do I have to give up fly fishing."? I enjoy it and am good at it and have many years of experience behind me
that I wish to pass on to family and friends. I may be getting older and slower, but this really does not affect the fish. I remember my father
mentioning this concept when I was young. He told me, that it was a really good idea at my age to choose sports and activities that I would be
able to enjoy my whole life. At the time he was trying to convince me to take up golf. He said, you will never regret it and that you'd be able
to enjoy the sport well into your retirement years. He was right about golf. He also talked about fly fishing in the same manner but since I was
a fanatic don't think he worried about me not wanting to continue in the sport. Foolishly, I also took up sports like rugby and soccer that I was
able to enjoy for a few years but was forced to quit when my knees said enough!
On the subject of fly fishing I have recently done some research on the best type of boat with which to fish. It looks like pontoon boats wins hands-down. Whether you choose a regular hard-hulled pontoon boat or an inflatable pontoon
boat you will have many years of use from each. The stability of the pontoon design allows for easy casting. Many of these boats come with 360°
swivel seats that make fishing convenient.
Advantages of Inflatable Pontoon Boats
- Storage -- Storage is a good example as the boats can be collapsed and put on a shelf in your garage.
- Cost -- Cost is another reason to consider inflatable boats. The cost of an inflatable pontoon boat can be anywhere from a 30% to
80% cheaper than a traditional pontoon boat.
- Weight -- Weight is also a big issue for traditional pontoon boats. Once you get the boat in the water for traditional pontoon
boat either go slower or requires a larger engine. The lightweight inflatable, because it draws less water has access to many more fishing
spots.
- No boat trailer -- We have left the best for last. This has got to be the most important reason that you would purchase an
inflatable pontoon boat over a traditional pontoon boat -- drumroll please -- no trailer to tow!
